5 Stars Simple…straghtforward. Like it should be
Pretty straightforward remote that works exactly as advertised. Mot much attention has been paid to the look and feel of the item, but that’s the reason of the low price, and it works just fine. Perfect item at a great price. Recommended.

5 Stars Love this tiny remote
The order arrived faster than I expected. We had it for a couple of weeks now and use it almost every day with my daughter’s Rebel T1i.

I wish there is a dedicated switch or top menu selction on the camera to take the remote signal.

5 Stars Stupid Simple…in a good way
We originally bought this remote to use with our Canon Rebel XTi. It worked well as long as you stayed in front of the camera and in range. (10-15ft) We now use it with a Canon 5D Mark II and get similar results. Very handy to capture photos on vacation with a tripod. We’ve had the remote over a year and the original battery still works. Also love the slim design as it fits in a pocket for easy transport. Can’t beat the price either.

5 Stars Opteka RC-4 for Canon Rebel X1i
I love this unit. It’s inexpensive and works flawlessly with my Canon Rebel X1i. No complaints.

3 Stars Doesn’t work that great with my 7D
After reading all the reviews here I decided to purchase this wireless setup for my 7D. For some reason it only work from about 3ft away. Not sure if it came with a weak battery but I hope I can get it working right.

5 Stars Great flash
A must have for all pro photographers. Loads of power, decent battery life, excellent build quality. a little spendy, and i actually lucked out and got it $50 cheaper on sale on amazon. So keep your eyes open for a good deal.

4 Stars Welcome to a whole new world of options!
The Canon 580ex II. First up, if you’re still getting by with your on-board flash on your camera… good for you. However, I may seem like the bearer of bad news here but… you have no idea what you’re missing out on! I personally was using my camera’s on-board flash with the Gary Fong “Puffer” to soften the light up for quite some time before I decided to take on a wedding gig. That flash just wasn’t going to get me the “Oomph!” that I figured I would need to really reach out there with my flash (the on-boards are usually good for like… 6-15 feet and that’s it). I bought myself this flash and another diffuser and set to putting it through it’s paces a few months ago and here’s what I’ve got to say: Let’s keep it simple and tidy… so here goes!

What’s hot?

* WAY more reach than an on-board flash.

* Bounce flash option to get more “natural” looking light.

* Fill card and “wide angle” cover are very useful and built right into the head! Easy to use, then store.

* Very adjustable to your specific needs.

* Can be used as a “Master” unit to control “Slave” units that are placed off camera.

* Can be controlled by the Canon 7D’s built in master unit and act as a slave flash off camera.

* Sturdy build quality (even the accessory stand is made of metal).

* Rechargeable Energizer batteries last a lot longer than I was expecting in the unit, while maintaining good recycle rates.

What’s not?

* I’m afraid I’m going to break whatever the mechanism/pin is that locks the head in place (released via a button).

* All those adjustments take you a while to wrap your mind around. You can easily go from beginner to advanced lighting with this unit… a plus, but this means there’s a noticeable learning curve if you want to get it off “Auto” and your pictures to come out looking good.

* Bulky. (Though a battery grip on my 7D seems to help balance the weight out a little more for me)

* I haven’t been able to get the unit to work as a slave that also triggers my studio lights yet… but that’s probably more a “me” thing than a problem with the device.

All in all I’m pleased with it. It’s given me a new perspective and creative outlet for off-camera, on location flash that I simply can’t have in the studio when I’m anchored in place. I’ll suggest patience and taking time to learn all the ins and outs of the product if you take the plunge. Also… Wedding photography (even as just a “guest”) takes on a whole new level with creative and intelligent use of my Canon 580ex II. I highly recommend this product.

5 Stars Nice Speedlight
Exactly as expected, Canon Speedlight. Works as expected, i.e., very well.

Bought from Amazon because of excellent low price.

5 Stars Great flash unit
I can’t compare this Speedlite to other models because it is my first one. I am so impressed with what it does as compared to the built in flash. Right now I am using it in the auto mode. I have seen a brighter difference in my night time shots. I have taken around 500 pictures using the flash and the batteries still seem to be strong. It has a very quick recycle time. I don’t have to wait to take the next shot. This is a great investment. I look forward to learning all the ways of using the flash. I would recommend this Speedlite to anyone.

4 Stars Fantastic Product
This flash is fantastic I used a 430E Speedlite before but this produce superseeds it by farit

5 Stars Awesome camera!!
Love this camera!

I believe this camera to be my best purchase in years. I have discovered a new way of taking pictures and made some great memories over the past six months and plan on taking a lot more in the future.

I am totally new to the SLR world (coming from a Sony T100) and learned to use the basic functions on this camera in less than a day. I would recommend taking the time to read up on the features(focus on aperture, exposure and how to switch features). The site [...] would be a great start to learn about photography in general.

The picture quality is awesome and the videos are great. They are clear, sharp and the colors are popping really well. The kit lens is OK for outdoor shooting but not the best for low light areas.I have found the 50mm 1.8 to be the best ever lens for less than $100. Takes great pictures indoor and outdoor.

I have seen some complains about the video feature and I have to say it is not that much of an issue. Just learn to manually focus and develop your pan mouvement. Nothing is made perfect in this world so you need to adapt icon smile Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15 1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3 Inch LCD and EF S 18 55mm f 3 5 5 6 IS Lens

The features are really easy to understand on this camera and the buttons are well placed no matter what your hand size is. My wife has small hands and can use the camera with no issues.I shoot both in RAW and JPEG and I have learn to do post processing to add my own effects to the pictures.

I would recommend getting a good case ( I purchased a Zing case on Amazon), some lens cleaning gear to carry and take care of the lens.

Buy it spcecially if you are new to the SLR world. Good value.

1 Star Took Fantastic Photos For TWO Days, then DIED
This was my first SLR camera and I was delighted with it, the photos it took and the deal on the extra lens. Unfortunately after a little bit less than two days of photos, the camera will not turn on with a full battery charge and a memory card with plenty of space on it. When the battery is inserted, a little blue light blinks on and off and that is the extent of the function of the camera.

The battery was fully charged overnight and the camera let to sit with no battery and no card in it but the next morning the same thing happened. A look around on other online forums seems to indicate this is more than an isolated incident with problems powering up the camera. For now, it will have to be the trusty Panasonic Lumix hand held camera for the rest of the trip. After all the hoops to jump through to get a camera delivered while on vacation to have it just stop working after 2 days is very disappointing.

It does take great photos when it works but to die after just two days is totally unacceptable!

4 Stars Canon Rebel Camera
Great camera, pretty easy to get used to, picture quality is excellent, you need to also get a UV and polarized lens for better quality pics

5 Stars Great Camera!
This is a great camera and worth it. The brochure is very easy to understand and instructions/information are clear. I recently used for my trip to Mount Rainier and Olympic national parks and I am really satisfied. For those who wants to learn photography, this is the best camera to start with.

3 Stars Don’t expect to take video
I’ll be returning this camera because I was hoping to take video but it doesn’t auto focus! That’s major. I’ll just find a good camera and buy a separate video cam.

5 Stars First DSLR
I was really nervous about giving up my little Kodak that I had loved for many years and provided me with fabulous pics. However, with a very rapidly growing, sports loving 12 year old, the 10x zoom lens of my trusty Kodak no longer worked for our family. I researched, researched, researched; questioned everyone we knew and did a lot of “how’s it feel” tests. We were trying to decide between a Nikon and a Canon- not as worried about individual models since it was the first “real” camera and I understood we would be committing to a brand and will be trading up cameras at some time in the future. Chose the Canon basically because it felt better in my hans and the sleeker, less cluttered back was preferable as well.

Immediately upon receiving the camera headed out to a soccer training session to play with it and begin what I expected to be a serious learning curve. What a pleasant surprise- both my husband and myself were getting great pictures right off the bat. (did read the manual!) Have used it shooting soccer, baseball and family shots already with absolutely no complaints! Honestly, I feel a little silly now about how worried I was moving up and all the concerns I had about knowing enough about photography to get good pictures. I should have been concerned about not getting to use it, I never had to fight my husband over use of my previous camera like I do now!

5 Stars Buying Canon since AE-1 was introduced
I have been a loyal Canon customer since they came out with the AE-1. Had my T1i two weeks took it down to see shuttle Atlantis take off. Put on my Canon 70-300 IS lens and walked away with some spectacular shots of shuttle take off. Then I took a ride on a airboat to photograph some wild life and came home with some amazing shots.

I did not purchase this camera to take movies so I will not try to use it as a camcorder. If you want great still photo’s buy this camera it is very easy to use and the price is right. If I want a camcorder then I will buy one from Amazon and Canon they have never let me down.

4 Stars Good, but not without its faults
This was my first DSLR. It’s a bit lighter than the D5000 and just feels better in your hands. My biggest complaints with this camera are the incredibly jumpy 20fps 1080p video, and the seemingly poor build quality. After 2 weeks of use and about 2000 shots, the mirror and viewfinder plastic piece fell out of their mounting brackets. I’m hoping it was just a dud, but worth mentioning. I also thought the 18-55mm lens was just OK. Sure its versatile, but don’e expect to get great results in low light. I would highly recommend the 50mm f1.8 for $100. It’s a must have.

I returned the broken one and opted for the refund. I’m going to upgrade to the newer, slightly more expensive t2i.

However, if you get a t1i with a good mirror assembly and the 50mm f1.8 lens, you will not be unhappy.

5 Stars Great product overall
I’m new in DSLR world. I bought T1i with kit lens and EF-S 55-250 lens (Amazon.com gave a really good special offer for the lens). I’ve read lot of reviews/comments about lot of start level DSLR cameras. My final decision was between Canon Rebel XSi and Canon Rebel T1i. I think that both of these cameras will do really great job. I just thought that the upgraded processor (Digic 4), clear LCD (920k), and Video mode worth to spend 150-200$ more as I can get the 55-250 EF-S lens for only 40$ (so I save 200$).

After having the T1i in my hands I went outside to try it out. I didn’t even thought that I will ever get such a quality without getting deep into the photography world. It captures really great pictures in auto-mode. I found only two issues with this camera:

1. You don’t have auto-focus when recording a video clip

2. Auto-focus works really slow in live-view mode

Overall these are very little issues, and I’m in love with this start-level monster icon smile Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15 1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3 Inch LCD and EF S 18 55mm f 3 5 5 6 IS Lens . I recommend this to anyone who wants to enter to the DSLR world.
