1 Star buyer beware
A word of caution, this item was included in a “combo” package with the Flip camcorder, the problem is my camcorder uses AA bateries and can’t be charged with this power adapter. So it’s never been used.

3 Stars Flip Video Power Adapter for me is so so
I almost returned this. Flip rechargeable batteries have a problem recharging with message coming up saying “charging paused”. They do this being recharged using Flip Video Power Adapter or my computer. However, the batteries then seem to work in the camera ??? Meanwhile I am always armed with regular AA batteries.

3 Stars works, but wierd configuration
i got this power adapter for my flip video hd. after contacting the company as to why it wasn’t working, they gave me instructions to do this and that and it seemed to charge after that. this adapter has the port on the bottom so it makes it akward to use as my flip has the usb arm on the side. i have to make a sling to support the camcorder while it’s charging. the setup is a bit funky but the charger does seem to work.

1 Star Nickel and dimed
[I don't know if it was intended to be this way, but this is textbook nickel and diming the valued customer. The Flip camcorder comes without a charger and the proprietary charger (this one) comes without a charging cord.]

I thought I’d get the charger for my Flip MinoHD because its non-removable battery can only be charged through a computer USB port OR the Flip’s own adapter and I CAN imagine instances where I don’t want to carry a laptop around so that I could charge a pocket-sized camcorder. I also did not like the way the MinoHD plugs into the laptop and hangs there, charging for hours, suspended by the USB arm.

Well… $24.95 later (that’s what I paid at the Flip site) it turns out that there’s just ‘one more thing’ needed to make this work the way I want it to. I couldn’t imagine it possible and I didn’t check before ordering but the charger came WITHOUT a cord so the MinoHD has to hang off the charger by its USB arm again while the charger itself plugs into the wall outlet (weird).

I really wish the Flips were compatible with standard chargers. The way they are now, while allowing us to take good videos on the cheap, they also complicate life more than they should. It’s one star because I don’t like its design/ergonomics, I don’t like the concept of asking the customer to spend more on a NEEDED wire and because I’m returning it.

Note:

I found that the USB Travel Charger for SanDisk Sansa Clip/ Sansa Fuze/Sansa View/Sansa e200 is perfect at charging my MinoHD and almost a steal, pricewise. You will need a cord, unless you want your MinoHD hanging off its USB charging arm while charging.

4 Stars I Flipped For This!
I’ve noticed several complaints about this product, but many of these were in conjunction with the Flip Mino, whereas I have the Flip UltaHD. I received the Adapter and it’s a piece of cake. I’ve used it several times with no problem. My only gripe is having to use something to prop up the video and adapter against the wall because I don’t want the video to “hang”, but otherwise it works fine. I was able to charge the battery pack in 3.5 to 4 hours.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Takes a bit of re-learning not the Canon of yesteryear
Pictures Quality: As with all Canon Cameras, the picture quality is decent. I had the original ELPH, then the 630, then the SX200IS, and now the SX210.

Exterior: Love the smaller form factor of the SX210 over the SX200IS. I still have issues with that POP-UP flash, my fat finger kept getting in the way because that’s where my left hand lands when I turn on the camera.

Controls: Look at my title. Canon has shuffled around a little the controls, I’m sure I’ll learn the new “features” and controls soon enough. Right now, the frustration is with taking video, I thought I was recording, but realize afterwards that the RECORD button wasn’t on. I missed out on a great shot of the SHUTTLE ATLANTIS going up!

Will edit as I learn more about this new camera.

5 Stars Best Point and Shoot I have Ever Purchased.
This is the best P&S camera I have ever purchased. There is little positive I can add that has not already been said, so I will only list my otherwise minor gripes about an otherwise great product.

Most armatures (like me) will find themselves using the AUTO feature quite often, at least until they are confident enough with the more specialized settings, and for the most part it is a great feature. One aspect I like is the ability to focus the AUTO setting to adjust based on the area of the scene that is most important. Such as center, surroundings, and full scene. However if you intend to take a lot of quick shots, it takes a few seconds to ‘prep’ the shot before it is perfect, which might be irritating… This is also the case when taking video. If you make rapid changes in distance and lighting, the few seconds of blur can be irritating.

Another thing is the speed with which the camera actually takes the pictures. Mine seems to pause about 3 seconds between every snap while I hold down the button. And this is even with preview disabled. Reducing the picture resolution doesn’t seem to have any effect either. Perhaps a faster SD card might help, but they get very expensive past the 15Mb/s rating. I wish there was a way to speed this up.

Lastly, the microphone. It is stereo, which is nice, but it seems to dull the higher ranges and is very easy to accidentally cover up with your fingers while taking long videos.

5 Stars Still Loving it
I have had this camera for a couple of weeks now and am still loving it. The image quality is great in both bright and low-light conditions.

When I first bought the camera I was experiencing the slow performance that many people have mentioned here. That problem disappeared when I got a newer memory card. The original memory card was one that I have had for years. It has become my backup-backup memory card now. With the new card I was able to consistently take pictures of flying snowballs during a snowball fight in my neighborhood.

3 Stars Its slow
Movie quality is good.

Two things didn’t like:

1. Very slow processing, it takes even longer after capturing movies.

2. Can not keep camera steady, will have to learn where to and how to adjust my left hand on camera!

1 Star This camera is to slow to be considered a camera!
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Cons: slow

This camera is to slow to be considered a camera – a sketch pad might be faster. There doesn’t seem to be a buffer and the save time to the memory card is agonizing slow. This camera would never be able to handle sports or children playing – you’d miss too many shots. It’s too bad because it has a lot of nice features in a small package. As a reference my G7 shoots twice as fast and its an older camera. Faster memory cards don’t seem to help much. I shot with a Class 4 and a Class 6 – no noticeable change.
