5 Stars Canon Camera
This camera is an amazing value for the money. Takes great pictures, easy to use, long battery life and easy to charge. Only caution is that the camera does not come with a memory card.

5 Stars Best camera to date!
In September of 09 I purchased this camera for my son, from Amazon.com, for $225.20, with an extra battery, and free shipping & handling. I knew it was a good buy, so I ordered one for myself. I still use my older Canon cameras but this one has a sharper image and if you take snaps while driving…they couldn’t be any sharper. Note: the size is just a little slimmer than older models. My orders were for the Gold…what a buy. Thank you Amazon!

4 Stars Good pocket camera with viewfinder
I purchased this model because it was the only pocket camera I could find with an optical viewfinder. It has surpassed my expectations. See the two attached pictures. I wish the film strips could be generated in AVI files, but I can live with the MOV filetype.

5 Stars Great little camera
I had a 6 year old camera (also Canon) that I recently gave to my dad who seemed interested in taking digital pictures and I started looking for a new digital camera.

SD780IS was recommended highly and the selling point for me was the availability of a view finder as it is very hard to see what you are aiming at in bright daylight without a viewfinder.

I already have countless pictures in different environments from hot hazy days on the sea to some flowers I have that bloom only once a year (and only for a day) in all occasions the results turned out great. Clarity, picture quality it is all there.

The size of the camera is perfect, I have a red one I love its color and using it (charging the battery or downloading the pics) is so easy.

I must mention that for this price it is the best deal.

2 Stars Great camera, horrible company
This is a really great camera, but it is a really bad company. Canon is the worst company when it comes to getting anything repaired. When I got this camera, I noticed it had a dead pixel on the LCD. I sent it in to Canon, they sent it back not only with the dead pixel unrepaired, but they left dust between the protective screen film cover and the LCD. As a result I sent it to them a second time. When I got it back the second time, they did not fix either problem and they broke something inside the camera so a red spot kept appearing on the LCD when trying to take a picture or shoot video… I sent it in a third last week telling them to fix the problems they caused and to replace the LCD.

It returned today, they fixed the two problems they caused, but I still have the dead pixel.

The bottom line is Canon is a horrible company when it comes to repair service, if you get a defective LCD like I did, you are going to have to deal with it, because they will lie to you about trying to repair and do nothing.

Either Canon lacks integrity or their repair people are incompetent or both (probably both) and thus I have to poorly review their product, because if something else goes defective, I have no guaranteed they will be able to fix it.

4 Stars Best bang for the buck!
Truly an amazing product. It has played every video format I’ve thrown at it without a single hitch. I don’t have any problems with network connectivity being dropped, and I’m using an ethernet over power adapter. The only issue I have is the responsiveness of the UI, it’s not bad but it could be better. All in all, if you need a device that does one thing (play HD video) and does it very well, this is it.

5 Stars Finally, it works!
What a brilliant concept. What a terrible first-boot experience. This box will play any and every file you can throw at it, including high quality 1080p .mkv bluray rips with DTS soundtracks. Easy menu, very quick and responsive compared to older models. The trouble I had with this unit was getting it to connect to my network shares when I first turned it on. It would see my computer in the share but would give me the “can not connect” or “incorrect username/password” message every time I tried to connect. After tweaking some settings in windows 7 to no avail, I was ready to give up on the unit and return it the following day. But by chance I decided to try it again after about 10 hours of downtime both on my pc and the live, and lo and behold it connects to my network shares perfectly, quickly, automatically. Now I can happily say there’s nothing wrong with this unit. Just give it and your computer a couple reboots and you’ll be good to go. If you need help with the settings check out the forums, there’s a ton of information on how to get this unit up and running properly. Since then, I’ve had no problems whatsoever connecting to shares, fast forward and rewind work perfectly, no stuttering or network drops, its working perfectly. Get past that first day and you’ll be a happy camper.

5 Stars Play your PC videos on your Flat Screen wirelessly
I was looking for a device that I could connect to my Flat Screen in my living room that could wirelessly play my videos (TV shows, HD movies, Home movies). I have 3 Western Digitial external drives connected to my PC, and have had them for over a year. They are very reliable, so when I saw that Western Digital (WD) also had a device that could connect to my flat screen via HDMI or RGB connection, I researched it further.

This HD Media Player is a little larger than a box of cigarettes, so it slides right under the front of my Vizio. I hooked it up using both the RGB connectors and the HDMI connection, to see if both worked, which they did. It took me just about 15 minutes to set up, which mainly involved experimenting with the menus and having the device connect to my internal Cisco network. I typed in my User ID and password, and I was done.

I didn’t know what to expect in trying to play a 1080p or 720p TV show or Movie in my living room with my PC down 1 floor in my house in my office. But, it works great. It takes maybe 5 seconds for the show to load, and then it plays. The remote control allows me to fast forward, rewind, play, stop, and pause (standard remote functions). The remote also allows me to search for any show I want on my PC and I can scan through the shows in a menu that the WD player creates.

For about $110, this is exactly what I was looking for, and I highly recommend it. The $100 WD media player without wireless capability is also available, and it works by connecting a USB drive to the Media player where your videos are stored. The player reads many formats, like avi, mkv, mp4, mp3. If your files are in these standard formats, the device will list them in the menu on screen for your selection. I wanted the device that could do these functions and also connect to my network, so I paid a little extra for this model.

WD products have been easy to use and reliable in my experience, and this player is no exception. The unit is also very portable, so if you want to disconnect it and use it on another TV, it just takes a few minutes to do that, which I have.

5 Stars Unlocked All My HD Home Movies
I’ve been saving all my HD Movies from my Canon HF10 for over a year now on an external drive. About 200gb+ worth of family home movies an did not know how to play them with out going through the camera. I was thinking I needed to burn to BLUE RAY when I can upgrade my computer. But how long would that take? I could play them on my Mac but thats not good enough for HD videos and for family viewing. This thing installed in less then 10 minutes and my 7 year old was able to navigate it.

Pros…

* Easy To Install

* Plays my CANON HD Videos

* Small Size – goes well with a WD passport 500gb.

Cons…

* Youtube is hard to search using a remote… well that’s whats my computer is for.

Extremely Satisfied for about $100. Now I can record HD family videos w/o any worries. When the kids grow up, I can copy my hard drive and give it to them with this device for playback. Hopefully the tvs will come standard with this type of device.

3 Stars Great Unit, No Netflix
The biggest flaw is that it does not have netflix! It has pandora but no Netflix, so I have to pay $8/month for my xbox360 live just to use netflix on my large tv. In fact, my xbox 360 does just about the same thing as this media player, just in a different format(software). The main reason I got this was because I would not have to pay a monthly subscription to use on the network or online like xbox360. And the guy at Best Buy said netflix can be used on the unit, total lie. Oh well. It has many capabilities with my home network, and is useful when I don’t want to go through all the menus on my xbox360.
