The 28mm wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective, even from short distances. The DMC-FH20 sports a powerful 8x optical zoom lens (35mm camera equivalent: 28-224mm). This gives you highly natural expressions from people and animals that you can’t get close to. And its slim, compact, pocket-sized body can easily go wherever you do for both everyday snapshots and traveling. When you don’t know which mode will give you the best shooting results, or when a sudden photo opportunity pops up and you don’t have time to make any settings, simply choose iA (Intelligent Auto) mode by simply pressing the dedicated button and let the camera do it all for you. You just choose iA mode, aim at your subject, and shoot. 4 detection and correction functions are simultaneously activated to optimize the settings, so you get stunning photos every time. The DMC-FH20 can record motion images in high-definition (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps in motion JPEG format). The pixel mixed readout method enables bright motion-image recording even in low-light settings. The DMC-FH20 can also record full-size motion images in WVGA (848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) or standard motion images in VGA (640 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps). The energy-saving Venus Engine IV image-processing engine and the efficient, rechargeable lithium-ion battery which has been slimmed down to fit into thinner camera bodies work together to extend the shooting time of the DMC-FH20. This lets users take approx. 300 shots on a single battery charge.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Very nice multi-feature compact, but people images are poor.
Purchased the Panasonic Lumix FH20 for the multiple features and was especially pleased with the ‘IA’ mode, it’s 28-144 mm equivalent 8X zoom, SD, SDHC, SDXC memory, long battery life and this camera’s compact size.

Numerous positive attributes of this Panasonic FH20 have been presented by other reviewers.

Unfortunately all our attempts at capturing people images were uniformly disappointing. We considered buying the Panasonic SZ1, SZ3, SZ5, SZ6 and even the SZ7. These cameras have similar and even better features than the FH20, and the latter all have Leica Lens, and all these cameras are rated highly. When our FH20′s people pics were transferred to a 19″ screen, the colors were so poor in facial features as to be unacceptable. All the people pics looked cyanotic and it was impossible to post process the images to improve the bluish lips and sickly appearance that the Panasonic electronics suffered on all the people images we captured. This was true regardless of the lighting when these numerous images were acquired. To minimize subjectivity, I strongly suggest visiting [...] and evaluating images on ‘Comparometer’. Compare the mannequin color with a known, good image, or simply transfer your people images to your own computer and assess faces, lips, eyes etc. Returned our FH20 today after two weeks of taking pictures.

Would still really like a compact point and shoot with all the great features of the before listed Panasonic Lumix cameras but desire the pics of people to look healthy and show correct contrast, saturation and hues. I was unable to fix any of our deficient ‘people’ images with “Photoshop Elements”. We currently own a 2006 Canon A630 and a 2008 Canon SX10is and we’d purchase a Canon SX200is or a SX210is, for better people pics. Want a compact that has similar features as the listed “Lumix”, but the listed Canons SX’s are pricier and also have their own flaws.

My background includes years of experience with SLR film cameras as well as digital image acquisition and subsequent post processing. Still looking to buy a digital with features most similar to the Panasonic Lumix ZS5, but want and demand better people images. Thought this ‘FYI’ might be of benefit to those want an all around compact digital camera that also capture good people face pics. Do research and hunt the good camera.

5 Stars what a great camera!
this is an exceptional camera. it takes beautiful pictures and videos and is crazy easy to use. the only thing i would strongly suggest is to purchase the camera ANYPLACE ELSE THAN AMAZON.COM! there customer service sucks as well as there shipping

5 Stars Lumix
This is a great camera. I went to a couple of independent product websites to see what the best point and shoot cameras were and this camera kept coming up as recommended, I see why. It is easy to use and takes super pictures and video. The sound on the video is amazing. Pictures very sharp. The only problem I had was the 14 mega pixil, takes up so much space that you have to minimize the photos before emailing them to someone or else they are too big to send. Great size ans weight, works well in an urban landscape.

5 Stars Fantastic Point and Shoot Camera
As soon as I got this camera I went outside and took the most beautiful pictures of my garden! It is very simple to use, the features are almost totally fool proof, (And I’d know, I tested them well!) and the quality is great. One note, the file size that the pictures download to on the computer, at least for me were HUGE. They took a long time to download, and you can’t email or attach them to anything really unless you can find a way to reduce the size. I’m still working on it myself. Other than that it’s great. It’s sleek, attractive, easy to carry for smaller hands, and just a really good buy for a beginner.

2 Stars Not That Good in Low Light
I know that point and shoot cameras are not supposed to be that good in low light, and I read reviews stating that this camera was good in low light, so I bought it. Perhaps my expectations are too high, but I believe I should be able to take a picture of someone from 6 feet away, indoors, with the lights on, and with flash on, and not have a picture that looks grainy. The graininess is evenly distributed and it resembles a matte photo print. This has the effect of taking away edge details and making the picture look flat. It is unacceptable to me and I almost prefer to use my older 5MP camera which doesn’t seem to have this problem so much. The same problem occurred to a slightly lesser extent when I took pictures outside on a semi-cloudy day. HD Video has the same graininess in the same light conditions. I suspect this problem is caused either by a less than adequate lens or the jpeg compression. By the way, you cannot select what quality picture you want. The camera uses who knows what compression level and saves everything as jpeg. You can only select from different picture sizes.

Another shortcoming of this camera is the build quality. The battery door is made of a flimsy plastic that can easily break if you are not careful while it is open. I also don’t like the shape of the edges of the camera. They are rounded in such a way that the camera feels like it will slip out of my hands.

The only plus side I found with this camera was the relative speed of the shoot cycle. I think it is something like 1 or 1.5 seconds between pictures, and it feels peppy. Not sure about the claims of a fast shutter. I was using the “intelligent” auto setting and there were times when the picture had some blur around my subject who was moving around slowly.

For what it’s worth, I was also testing the Olympus Stylus Tough 6000 and it had performed better in the same low light conditions. There was still some graininess, but it was much more palatable to me. Main drawback of the Olympus is the long cycle time.

5 Stars Really nice camera, but movie editing needs improving
I have been taking pictures for about 45 or more years and this is my third digital camera, including my wife’s camera. Most of what I like to take is telephoto and macros and this camera is great at both. I have some pictures uploaded of some small white flowers on the back of my fence. They come out very clear. If the slight wind would cooperate, I could do better on some of the shots I took, but I tend to take a dozen to get one good shot anyway.

I can’t add too much more to what has already been said, so I will talk about the one point I think it could be improved. Editing movies. Although no digital camera can compare to a dedicated digital camcorder, they do come out rather well. What my complaint is about is the editing. There are two modes to shoot in. AVCHD Lite and MOTION JPEG. The AVCHD can be played on your big screen TV, although I cannot on mine, maybe not compatible with Samsung TV’s, I don’t know, but my bigger complaint is it cannot be edited on the camera, as my wife’s small Cannon camera can. It can be edited on the computer when uploaded, but then cannot be saved to your hard drive, but it can only be saved to a DVD disc. The JPEG version cannot be edited, but can be saved on to the computer, as easily as it does with my other small cameras. I don’t have any movie editing software on my PC except Windows Movie Maker, which does well for me if I upload movies from my wife’s Cannon, but not this camera, nor my other, the Nikon coolpix. If you shoot a movie in AVCHD mode, and edit it on your PC, you have to keep it on the camera memory chip and wait until you can upload it to a DVD disc. To me this is frustrating. So, depending on what you want to do with the movie you take, you need to be sure which mode you have it in before shooting.

5 Stars Fantastic still and HD camera with loads of manual settings to tweak!
This camera replaces my 5 year old kodak megazoom digital camera (great camera, but after breaking the lens while almost falling off a cliff in Kauai… it never worked the same). I’ve been borrowing my parent’s DSLR camera because the ability to set aperture, shutter speed, and focus (among other reasons), but I got tired of lugging around the large camera plus all the lenses needed to get great nature shots. I wanted something that was more portable but also offered good picture quality, zoom, manual focus, manual settings, and macro functions. I found it here with the FZ35. It’s a great camera that can take very high quality pictures- almost as good as my parents dslr (pentax k50?), but much more portable and less expensive. The other added bonus is the hd video function that you cannot do with most dslrs. Not only is the movie quality excellent, but you’re also able to zoom the complete optical range (18x), use manual settings, including aperture, shutter, and focus and you can even affix lens filters without needing adapters (46mm). I was in a toss up between the Canon and Panasonic- Panasonic won because it’s lighter, smaller, has a larger sensor, lens threading without needing an adapter, and about 100 bucks cheaper. I’m very happy with my purchase and it was worth the 3 week wait (backordered on amazon).

5 Stars A very good everyday shooter
I’ve only had this product a short time. But what I know is that with what time I’ve had with this camera, I have been very pleased with the picture quality. One thing I had do is set the camera to “P” mode as the Auto function is setting the ISO way too high. Having said that, however, the pictures that it produced with iA are still very acceptable, even at high ISO.

The camera and its multitude of functions are very easy to learn, if, and I say “If” you already have a lot of knowledge with photography. This kind of camera is overkill for my wife, who really is just a Point and Shoot type of person, but the camera is perfect for me. It’s also a tad small on my hand, the Canon SX20 IS is bigger and heavier, if you prefer that kind of feature of your camera.

Unlike many of the reviewers here, I am a Canon loyalist. However, when comparing this camera with the SX20, aside from the additional bells and whistles the Canon has, there is not much difference in picture quality. And even though I am a photography geek, I am not a pixel peeper, so what happens at 100% magnification when looking at the picture on your computer monitor, doesn’t matter much to me. If I can get a good 4×6 or 5×7 with this camera, I am happy. And this camera proved very capable of that. I will actually try printing a 13×19 and see what that would look like. So in this case, price really was the deciding factor in my decision to purchase this camera.

As an everyday type of camera, this is perfect. I can only comment on the pictures and ease of use at this time. I cannot say anything about the video as I have not had time to use it.

PS. The only reason I kept referring to the Canon SX20 IS is because that is the camera that is compared the most with the FZ35.

5 Stars Panasonic -Reviews.
Excellant quality – camera – Works well out of the Box – Kids look Great and playing soccer and Macro works well also, i got rid of the bulky cameras for one that has everything i am doing – macro, presets, Video – they sound great. – i was skepitical but the price was right and the camera works well – the kids like it to.

5 Stars What a camera
I am by no means a professional. I have a point and click 2.0 MP camera that is about 8 years old. Definitely time for an upgrade. I wanted a camera that takes great pictures with ease allowing me to focus on the actual picture. I also wanted a camera that I can grow with, tinker with and change settings. Well in this price range it was a toss up between this and the Canon, both great cameras from the reviews I read. Both cameras had their advantages and disadvantages, however for what I needed, the panasonic was the choice for me. This camera takes awesome pictures, it really excells at outdoor photography I am truly amazed at the clarity and vibrancy of colors. Indoors it does well too. I have not used the video function but I’m sure there will be no complaints there. The battery life is remarkably long considering the camera that im used to with 4 AA batteries. I prefer the battery pack over AA batteries. Charging takes about 1.5-2.0 hours not bad. This camera is fun and easy to use and I recommend it. You will want to get a camera bag to protect and carry the camera. Most of the bags out there are over priced, too big too small or lame. I came across m rock and the quality is supperb. The bag fits my camera and misc stuff perfectly it is stylish, versitle and the owner was very prompt with questions (we are talking within the day between 12/20-12/29) Definitely check out MRock camera bags.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Bona Fide Panasonic DMW-BCF10 camera battery
This is the real thing; a bona fide Panasonic brand camera battery. It is more expensive than the off-brand replacement batteries, but it should work seamlessly with all Panasonic cameras that use this model battery. I previously purchased a much cheaper off-brand battery, Maximal Power DB PAN DMW-BCF10 Secured Digital Camera Replacement Battery for Panasonic DMW-BCF10 (Black), but my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 14.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 4.6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom with 2.7-Inch LCD (Yellow) displayed “THIS BATTERY CANNOT BE USED” message after 4 seconds or being turned “ON”. Apparently, the Panasonic cameras will recognize off-brand batteries and will not accept them in an effort to protect us, the dumb consumers, from fires and explosions caused by off-brand batteries.

I am not happy that I have to pay a premium for this brand-name battery, but it seems to be the only battery that will work with my Panasonic camera (unless, of course, you hack the camera’s firmware).

4 Stars No free shipping!
Because this purchase was not directly from Amazon, this pricey little item did not qualify for free shipping. It would have from Amazon. Shipping is very important for us in Hawaii.

5 Stars Spare Battery
I’m very pleased with this purchase. When taking videos with my new digital camera, it is great to have a charged spare battery so I don’t have to worry about the battery charge running out.

5 Stars Misleading link led to wrong purchase
I was attempting to purchase a spare battery for my new Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS3. I noticed the “Amazon ” People who bought this camera also might want to purchase the following…. Well I added the expensive, recommended battery on their link to my basket. Well the recommendation turned out to be wrong and now I have a battery that is too large.

5 Stars Spare Battery
Purchase this as a spare for our Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS25. Arrived on time and works fits fine. Hardest part was making sure it was the correct battery for our camera.

The DMC-ZS7 features a 25mm ultra wide-angle 12x optical zoom f/3.3-4.9 Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens. Incorporating Panasonic’s advanced optical technologies, this lens system is comprised of 10 elements in 8 groups, with 2 ED (Extra Low Dispersion) lenses and 2 aspherical lenses/3 aspherical surfaces while preserving compactness. This lens system enables a remarkable 25 to 300mm range of focal length in this compact body. The powerful zoom of the DMC-ZS7 can be freely controlled even when shooting motion images. Inheriting the fine rendering and outstanding quality of the Leica Elmar lens, this easy-to-carry camera delivers beautiful images any time, any place. Thanks to the intelligent resolution technology, the intelligent zoom is available with the DMC-ZS7 which extends the zoom ratio by approximate 1.3x maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. This means the 12x optical can virtually extend to 16x equivalent. Furthermore, the extra optical zoom function that extends zoom power to 23.4x by using the center part of the large CCD to bring subjects even closer.

5 Stars Forget the Sony DSC-HX5V the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 is “The One”.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 is an incredible compact camera with a great set of features and build quality that the competitors simply do not offer. I’m not going to carry on about this camera as there are already plenty of websites and detailed reviews out there. I have I should mention tested both the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 and the Sony DSC-HX5V and the Panasonic is by far a superior product. Also I unfortunately didn’t order mine from Amazon as they didn’t offer the best price at the time. I ended up using pricegrabber and getting from Abe’s of Maine for $15 cheaper than Amazon with Free Shipping and No Sales Tax. I suggest to anyone thinking about making the purchase to go ahead and do so as its a quality camera that will surely make beautiful photos and videos for years to come, I was still using my five year old Lumix till the new one arrived last week. I partnered up this camera with the SanDisk Extreme 32GB card and am now ready for a vacation!

5 Stars Panasonic Luminix DMC ZS3
This is my 5th small size digital camera. Love the compact size, excellent hi zoom 12X optical performance, the photo quality, the smile detection, the hi-def movie performance, and the S/W.

It does need a second battery as battery life is less than 300 pictures especially when using flash.

Best picture quality of all my compacts and intermediate format digital cameras!

4 Stars Almost Perfect 4.5 stars!
This is a great camera for a beginner—Point and shoot. Lots of control for advance photographers. I’m sorry to say I don’t lug around a camera bag and tripod anymore. Just slip this in my purse.

I waited a long time to upgrade from the first generation Panasonic Lumix TZ1 (complete with dangling lens cover & 5MP) Glad I did. The best improvements are the quick power-up and lack of a shutter delay for catching fast action. If you leave it in the completely automatic mode it does an impressive job—and if you need control there’s plenty and then some. Lots of programs plus aperture and shutter priority or complete control.

Other notable improvements are in the macro end of things where capturing very fine close-ups are greatly improved—my TZ1 was always focusing on the background if I could get it to focus at all. This does an incredible job! Almost too much detail (if that’s possible) Every speck on the petal of a flower is exposed. This camera is slightly smaller and has a larger display screen. Most of the functions and dials are similar and I find easy to use but that may be because they are familiar.

Flash is improved over the first generation.

The zoom on the original was 10X. 12X even better. I took incredible photos of bullfrogs 15 feet away. Unbelievable detail.

This camera isn’t perfect and no camera will ever be. It would be nice to have a more powerful flash and nice if you could shoot in lower light with less noise without flash and it would be nice if it had a 20X optical zoom and a faster lens but for what it is its an incredible piece of engineering. AND don’t forget the Leica lens which is just plain beautiful.

All cameras have limitations and this is no exception. However it will get you a great photo most of the time. The wide angle to long telephoto range is why I bought my first Lumix. This flexibility makes for great travel photos. I did side by side comparisons of a Sony, Canon, Nikon and the first Lumix in the store and then we printed them out on the spot. No comparison. No ghosting, better color correction, better macro. And I like the ergonomics. I always place the wrist band over my wrist and hold onto the camera with fingers and pad of thumb and it feels secure. Some of the ultra small cameras are almost too small for me. (Didn’t compare to current models)

What is truly awful about this camera is that the manual is on a disk and covers this camera and its 2 predecessors making it a bit (if Not totally confusing at times). It also does not come with MAC compatible editing software which is really not a big deal for me. One person asked if it is MAC OSX 10.6.3 compatible and it is. The only problem I’ve encountered is in using Aperture (a MAC program)it doesn’t want to import directly into a project that has other images from my other Lumix camera. Make a new project and problem is solved but irritating. (Manual software and downloading from card to MAC is compatible)

Haven’t tried uploading video yet.

DO purchase an extra Panasonic Battery DMW-BCG 10PP. Make sure it has the PP (It won’t work without it) Also you’ll need a SD Card. It’s not necessary to go to the Class 6 cards unless you are shooting HD video. A SDHC 4GB card will hold 700+ photos at full MP.For most people this will be more than adequate. I carry two cards in case one goes south. You can always find them on sale for under $20. I also like the Caselogic TBC-302 Ultra Compact Camera Case for under $8.

5 Stars Panasonic ZS-7
This is an amazing camera, all my friends want it too, it’s handy, easy to pack and has big quality for its size! Little minor thing is the GPS functionality, it’s slow. But as a gadget it’s fun!

5 Stars Progress is fast
I bought the original camera in this line (the DMC-TZ1) three years ago and have absolutely loved using that camera. I have taken over 60,000 photos with it and couldn’t be happier. I never suffered any kind of technical problem with it – I only decided to get the ZS7 (or TZ10, as it is known in Europe) because the new features I read about were so enticing! In just 3 years, this line has raced through 4 generations and the improvements are amazing – despite which the price has stayed exactly the same.

Before I go into details, I should be clear as to what I personally am looking for in a camera, so that you may judge how relevant this review is to you. Things that I care about:

- I take photos everywhere I go, often at a moment’s notice, so it must fit in my jacket pocket and be quick to use

- it must have a good zoom since that gives me the freedom to frame subjects tightly and remove them from context

- it should be good at macros since I love taking macro shots

- it needs to take photos with as close to SLR quality as possible, given that it’s a compact

If you care about other things, like the packaged software (which I never use) or the various peripheral ‘features’ (e.g. face recognition, which btw does work – though sadly not on my cat ), then this review may not provide the information you’re most interested in.

Anyway, here’s what I’ve found in my first few weeks using the ZS7.

Everything that I loved about the TZ1 is present in the ZS7, but in improved form:

- it’s now even smaller and lighter

- I can get even closer for macros (down to 3cm!)

- I can zoom in even further (19x optical!)

- the awesome macro and zoom features now combine in the incredible ‘telephoto macro’ mode, which lets me focus on objects just 3 feet away at maximum zoom (the depth of field is simply gorgeous in these shots; bokeh like an SLR!). Definitely my new favourite feature!

In addition, I have been enjoying these lovely enhancements:

- image quality is improved along every axis:

-> noise: in addition to generally lower noise levels, ‘noise reduction’ can now be turned OFF and the overall improvements to image quality are fantastic – the ugly ‘grunge’ in the pixel noise that the TZ1 had was probably its single worst feature, and that is now completely gone.

-> dynamic range: images taken in bright sunlight are far less contrasty now, and I can take pictures of objects against the sky without ugly fringing and chromatic aberration around their silhouettes (as long as I get exposure right of course!)

-> colour balance: automatic white balance is in a new league compared to the TZ1. I was constantly changing the custom white balance settings for the TZ1, but with the ZS7 I’m happy to just leave it on automatic white balance 99% of the time (quite a relief!). Overall, colours look much more natural – they match how the scene looks to my as well as the SLRs that I have used.

- the new image stabilisation is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE – all but the most major jolts are smoothed out. This has a huge impact on the clarity of my shots when at max zoom or shooting in dim lighting (which let’s face it is not the forte of these small-aperture compacts), and the jittery videos you’d expect from such a light camera are now smooth as butter. Really, really impressive.

- speaking of video, the HD video is absolutely STUNNING. You could shoot cable TV on this thing.

- minor but very welcome improvements:

->  in-built lens cap (yay!)

-> support for SDXC memory cards (I used to empty my TZ1′s 2GB card every few days; my first 64GB card for the ZS7 isn’t even a third full yet!)

-> JPG compression artifacts are noticeably reduced

-> the new program/aperture/shutter modes give me a little bit more control under certain circumstances (though not that much, given the small lens you get on a compact)

-> the new UI is very streamlined (the quick menu is extremely useful and photo browsing is much quicker)

-> GPS works well, and it’s nice to have my photos automatically register on the world map once I upload them to Flickr.

Just so I don’t give the impression that I’m gushing uncontrollably, I should also mention the things that I don’t like:

- I wish the quick menu was customizable (e.g. I’d like to be able to use it to change aspect ratio and set custom white balance)

- I’m disappointed that zoom+scroll in review mode isn’t any quicker than before

- I really don’t like losing the ‘review’ button (review ‘mode’ resets the lens after a couple of seconds, to frequently irritating effect)

- auto-focus isn’t noticeably faster (one of the big general down-sides of compacts, unfortunately)

- there is the occasional encoding error when shooting videos, which Panasonic needs to fix in a firmware update

Those are pretty minor complaints, compared to all the great new features I’m enjoying. My old camera, beloved as it was just a couple of weeks ago, is already languishing on a shelf, all but forgotten! Before getting the ZS7, I would have whole-heartedly recommended the TZ1 to anyone that cares about the same things that I do (portability, flexibility and image quality), and the ZS7 stands head and shoulders above it in every regard. What more can I say? Get one!

The foldable optics in this 28mm wide-angle lens with 4.6x optical zoom enables the FP8′s flat, slim design.Enjoy high-speed 0.95-second start-ups, AF speeds of approximately 0.3 second, and up to five consecutive shots at 2.3 frames per second with full resolution. You can also take up to 380 photos with a single battery charge (CIPA). This comfortable level of performance lets you capture even the most fleeting shutter chances.Simply switch to iA mode, and leave everything up to the camera. It automatically selects the best of six scene modes to match your subject, and corrects any blurring, focus or brightness problems, so you get beautiful photos every time. The back of the camera has cool-looking illuminated buttons that help you to avoid operating mistakes even when shooting in dimly lit places.

5 Stars Beautiful camera
This is a great camera for anyone. I bought it for my wife to carry with her for those special pictures that come up unexpectedly. There is no need to fool around with a bunch of settings. You just turn it on and it is ready. Takes great pictures indoors and outdoors. It does have all the “settings” if you like to tinker, but is just great on auto. I would reccommend this camera for anyone.

5 Stars Very good
This camera is what I was looking for: compact, good quality and has a fast refresh rate. I love the burst mode.

Picture quality is very good but not great…there is some sacrifice for size but compared to other compacts that are this small it is excellent.

My goal was to find a good quality camera that slips into a pocket and I could not be happier.

5 Stars Totally worth the buy!
Bought this as a birthday gift for my wife. She wanted something she could keep in her purse all the time; instead of being bummed she didn’t lug around her very high grade Digital SLR by Canon. It is perfect! Exactly what she wanted, small, easy to use, and great pics (no, not the same quality as the SLR, but close for everyday pics). Additionally, it has a good battery life and was selected after I read up on this type of camera on [...]. It is not the most attractive point and shoot camera, and you can only use the 2.7″ viewfinder, as opposed to an eyepiece finder, BUT don’t let that dissuade you! This camera can come at a decent price if you shop around and is completely worth the buy. We have had it for almost a month now and it has been great.

One other bit of advice, my wife learned the hard way, read the manual. It performs a lot of functions and if you are just messing around with settings, you will make a mistake and need to default back to factory settings.

3 Stars lens should be in the middle
the camera takes great pictures and the controls are easy to use. the only flaw is that the lens is up in the left hand corner instead of in the middle of the camera so i have taken a lot of pictures with my finger in the frame. the camera is very small so someone with big hands like myself might want to consider a camera that is a little bigger…i am always feeling like i am going to drop it when i try to get my fingers out of the way to snap a picture.

5 Stars Low stress photography & great fun
Have owned it just over a month. . . traveled with it. . . shot stills, video. . . micro, full zoom, aerial. . . flash, timer, many modes. . . Intelligent Auto or selected settings. . . this camera makes photography fun! It travels in a shirt or jacket pocket virtually unnoticed, or packages up in a soft carrying case with a spare battery, SD Card, and small cloth for cleaning the screen/lens that’s just 4 1/2″x3″x1 1/2″ for those short vacations. And with a spare battery, it easily gets through a 3 to 4 day vacation at 100+ pictures/day without recharging anything. Picture quality is far and away good enough for those of us looking to “record family history” on anything up to 8×10. If you have owned another camera with features, you’ll be able to find your way around the Menus and Modes without too much hassle. . . or just jump to Intelligent Auto which works well 90+% of the time. For me, it passes the most critical test . . . it’s small enough to take anywhere without a hassle, and takes very good pictures!
