Kingston’s family of convenient, compact and reliable DataTraveler USB Flash drives just got bigger with the addition of the DataTraveler 101. DataTraveler 101 contains room for high-definition photos, graphics-intensive documents, videos, spreadsheets, presentations, term papers, and music that can be stored and retrieved in a flash. Sleek, practical, and attractively designed, the affordable DataTraveler 101 serves the needs of the budget conscious user as well as those looking for significant storage capacity and data protection in a lightweight, compact design. It features a capless, swivel design for added functionality and ease of use.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Avoids misplaced caps
I bought this because I don’t like keeping up with the separate caps. I did expect the swivel cover to fit closer. With the big gap between the cover and the plug end, I feel like the plug is merely covered, not protected. Now that I’m getting a collection of these, for various uses, I’m considering getting a case for them; then loose caps and cover gaps won’t matter.

I also think the metal swivel is very unattractive from a design standpoint, but it’s function that matters and I have no complaint there. The price is also fair, so I won’t hesitate to buy more of these.

5 Stars How to recognize a deal.
Don’t be too quick to disparage your old thumb drive that’s three times the physical size, one-third the speed, and one-sixteenth the storage capacity of the pictured Kingston Flash Drive. I’ve never lost one of those primitive (i.e. pre-2007) Sandisk flash drives. With the current crop of thin plastics, I’m fortunate to retain the cap for a month, and now that the drive itself is as small and light as a disposable cigarette lighter, I find it difficult to keep the gizmo in my pocket for more than half a year.

Knowing that I wanted a drive with 2-4 gigs and with either a retractable connector or one with a “permanently”-attached protective cover, I simply started going down Amazon’s list of best-sellers. This one, appearing at #17, was the first one with a firmly affixed cap. (The swivel design is quite ingenious. I recently tossed a retractable Transcend drive that kept retracting whenever I attempted to insert it in my computer’s USB port, not good,)

If price were no object, I’d look for the slightly larger, heavier and more rugged Sandisk Titanium (not the “Micro” version, however). But at present this blue (“cyan”) Kingston (always a trustworthy brand) is not only the right price but the exceptional no-brainer: it’s twice the size of its smaller 2 GB brother yet is going for 3 dollars less.

5 Stars Inexpensive and work
It was ~$14 shipped. Inexpensive and it works like it should. Plenty of space for a little thumb drive.

5 Stars Highly Recommended
It is a great product and it holds a lot of things on it and I highly recommend it to anyone.

4 Stars Happy with Amazon
It’s a good flash drive. I would pay more for one with a metal housing.

5 Stars Panasonic GH1 For Video
I’m using this card in the Panasonic GH1 for HD video and it works great. No problems so far, and a great buy.

5 Stars Fantastic Card for a Great Price
I recently decided to dip my feet into digital photography, after scoring an awesome deal on a Nikon D40 kit. I needed a decently sized SD card, and after shopping around local big box retailers and on the web I settled on this one. The transfer speeds are quick, both while taking pictures and when in use with my camcorder. And the price is pretty awesome, by far the least expensive 16gb card I’ve found. But don’t be fooled by the price, its on par with other SD card from different manufacturers.

1 Star Great SDHC Card!! Until it dies.
I’m an amateur photographer and I’ve recently started to get into cinematography and photography on my T2i. I bought this card as a secondary card to my 8gb class 10 SanDisk card. I read reviews and recommendations that said this 16gb Transcend card was a great deal for price and bought it about a month ago. It worked great and I used it on numerous photo-shoots and long periods of shooting video. While on a paid photo and video shoot my camera stopped shooting in the middle of an interview and the card became unreadable. The card died on me and I lost all of the data on it. It seems that this card is not up to the standards that I would get with a more expensive card from SanDisk. I am now going to put the money into better performing cards rather than the cheap and easy ones after what happened.

3 Stars not bad, works pretty good
I bought this card that we would have more capacity for taking digital pictures while on vacation. You get virtually the full amoung as available storage; as hoped. The upload and download speeds are okay but the the fastest that I have seen. I dont know it it is a hardware or software issue that keeps it from going faster but still an okay card for the money.

1 Star Went bad after 1 year
Had this card for about a year, and it worked well until 2 days ago. I had it in my Nikon D5000 and got the error, “Unable to Format Card. Card May Be Defective.” Luckily I found a utility online to recover the pictures I had and I was able to re-format the card. It worked for another day and now I’m getting the error again.

I tried cleaning the contacts w/ a cotton swab, and even tried inserting the card while locked & unlocked – didn’t make a difference. Hopefully, the SanDisk 16GB Extreme – SDHC Class 10 High Performance memory card (SDSDX3-016G-P31, Retail Packaging) – NEW 30MB/s version I just bought will last longer.

5 Stars A great savings……….
This is my first time ordering from Amazon.com and I am so thankful for this site. The prices are absolutely amazing. I will definitely be shopping on this site alot more. Thank you so much. My order came within two days and I am thrilled. Judy Dietz

4 Stars Excelent value for price
I especially appreciated not being gouged on shipping like so many small items are.

I found this item to be priced fairly and delivered promptly.

5 Stars Flash Memory Card
San Disk has always been a leading name for memory cards. In my experiance any card may die unexpectedly after having been installed and removed several dozen times so durability remains an issue for all such cards. Prices have dropped in the past 6 years, so you now have many choices in card memory size as well as price points to consider. You may find that it is more cost effective to buy several 2GB cards instead of one 8GB card simply to have a back up plan in case of card failure.

3 Stars Good value for the money
The cards are just as advertised. I use them in my job where I take 200 and more pictures a day. They do their job but they are no where as quick as the Ultras and if you need speed and quick recovery from your camera they are not for you. That being said if normal use of a camera or storing data is your concern they are a great value for the money.

5 Stars It works great with my Canon digital cam
Not much to say. It works fine. Compatible with the Canon camera – put it in, click, and it’s ready. i can shoot something like 900 pictures before running out of space. The price was very good for 2GB. Me and the camera are happy!

If your a gamer like me and need a lot of space on ur memory card then i suggest you get this. I have an unbelievable amount of space now and have had no problems using it for me Wii at all. it did take a bit long to get to my house but i used super saver shipping so i cant really be the judge on how fast it would get to your house if u pay for the shipping.

The card that came with the camera could only hold a half hour. The video made of the previous production was so out of focus that the voices were the only distinguishing features. This card solved the problems.

5 Stars I always buy sandisk memory cards for a reason
Sandisk stands behind their product. They include repair software should a bit die and your most precious memories are on that card. Their warantee is one of the best in the business,

I bought this one for my canon memory HD recorder with no moving parts and a 1080p picture. Although it says C4 and my camera wants C6 cards, the datarate is truly a C6 rate and it works perfectly. I was concerned for a while there but no problems developed.

I also bought their 16G SDHC to use in my audio recorders Zoom H4n Handy Portable Digital Recorder and Marantz PMD661 Portable SD Recorder

I have never had a problem with genuine sandisk media and dont expect to. At these sizes you really want reliability be it video or audio, so sandisk it is.

3 Stars Class ?
I note that the Class # (speed) is blurred. How convenient. Can’t tell if the Class is 2 or 4 or 6. I know, I know, the speed is listed but is the speed for read or write? I suspect that most of us are looking for the Class number. It should be called out – loud and clear.

All this smells of skirting the bad news. I note that almost all of other SDHC cards show the Class number in the text and/or the graphics.

Amazon should monitor the people who write these ads and make them show the important facts, good and less good.

======================

(My favorite is a weight confusion, for instance listing 6 pound product weight with a shipping weight of one pound. Hmmmmm.)

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Works great.
Works great and haven’t had any problems. I did buy a comparable Kingston at the same time and don’t notice a difference between the 2.

3 Stars Plastic Teeth can Break Easily
Listen, most people gave enough reviews of speed and whatever, so the only feedback I will try to impart is that there is flimsy plastic on the outside; the teeth that slide to match up with the nine gold tabs on the bottom of these SD cards will break and split from the exterior. I just experienced that tonight. Mine is a Class 6, 30MB/sec edition. This happens when you use them very often. I don’t think these are really high-usage shells. And I understand that sliding them in and out on a regular basis will fray and weaken the really slim plastic ribs that separate each tab. Just be careful when you dock your SD card into a reader. Some readers will eat them more than others.

5 Stars Pleased
I bought this card to use with my Canon XSi (450D). It has worked well, and only rarely have i noticed having to wait, and that may be the camera. SanDisk does make a faster card, which is named almost identically. If you are going for maximum performance look for the 30MB/s card, also called “Extreme III”.

5 Stars What my camera needed.
My camera needed at least a class 6 SDHC Memory Card and this one is. Also, 4 gb is the right size for me. You can burn this to a CD and it is the correct size to fit on one CD. You are going to be needing more than one of these if your shooting RAW. I only shoot RAW and never have shot jpg, so I will be getting more of these in the future. SanDisk has never failed on me.

5 Stars It works
I can’t verify the speed, but it is faster than my camera, and that’s all that I need. Have had no problems so far, and the pictures copy off the cards quick. The packagaing, however, left something to be desired.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Terrible
Terrible, truly awful product; lots of fakes being sold; music will crash and does not accept Divx. I spent over $55 on one of these, what a complete waste of money, would not buy a SanDisk again.

4 Stars Good product but very lightweight
I almost always buy Sandisk Thumb Drives. They are well-built, extremely portable and very reliable. The U3 Protection is yet another reason I like to carry one of these units with me all the time. Amazon has a great price to offer too. For this particular unit the overall experience was almost similar. The one reason why I’d give it a 4 Star and not a 5 star is because it is extremely lightweight and feels flimsy in build quality. All their other thumb drives are heavy in construction and can withstand any rough handling. But this one has (or at least it appears to have) been built with a cheap plastic shell and may get crushed under heavy books or on impact specially if in a backpack or similar other mobile carry on. Other than that, it works fine though, like any other Sandisk Products before, at least for now.

5 Stars Works well & the price is great……………
i bought this item on sale & it was well worth it…….Amazon & San Disc did well by me, it was in my hands in no time…………..!

5 Stars Flash Drives Used for Xbox 360 Memory
I bought 2 of these Sandisk 16 GB flash drives to use as extra memory on some Xbox 360s. They work perfectly and are very easy to configure through the Xbox. Good price and great product…would definitely recommend!

5 Stars Got it for the XBox 360
Got this flash drive to add some more space to my 20 GB XBox 360. Works great and I moved some downloadable content and even installed games from the actual disk just like the hard drive install. Helped with Mass Effect 2 since it uses 2 disks and I almost never play games off the disk anymore.

3 Stars Nof fast for full HD video in AVCHD.
I was nicely suprised that my memory was Class 6, instead of advertised Class 4. This means perhaps nothing, since either minimum guaranteed speed 6 Mbit/sec for Class 6, or 4 Mbit/sec is not fast enough for HD Video.

The MPEG-4 AVCHD requires 24 Mbps for UXP recording mode, and 17 Mbps for XP recording mode, while this memory is at best 15 Mbps. You must use SP mode at 12 Mbps, or EP mode at 5 Mbps with this memoory and HD camcorder, or use standard DVD camcorder.

Meaning of “VIDEO” changes quickly and Amazon should provide Mbits/sec rating instead of misleading VIDEO that does not guarantee speed for latest AVCHD video modes.

4 Stars SanDisk strikes it again
Nice Card….fast and good for HD Video recording. I use a Poloroid HD Camcorder (a really cheap one)…and this card has enhanced the output of the videos! Works for me!

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Perfect add-on for my cell phone
Buying a memory card generally is either a 5-star or 1-star experience — either it works or it doesn’t. In my case, this SanDisk 2GB MicroSD card worked perfectly in my LG enV3 VX9200 Phone, Blue (Verizon Wireless). I’m thinking about buying a second card to use with my Garmin eTrex Venture HC GPS Receiver outdoor GPS, so I can load the entire U.S. road system into it.

The packaging isn’t the “Amazon Frustration-free” type — get your scissors out to cut into the hardshell plastic that contains the memory card. The card comes with a nice, over-sized plastic holder so if you do need to transport it, you’ll do so safely and without losing it inside your briefcase or purse.

For applications like cell phone and GPS, where data transfer speed isn’t as critical as it might be with other applications (like digital cameras) I found this SanDisk memory card to be a wonderful, economical value — so very inexpensive to buy, and it qualifies for free shipping, too! If anything *does* go wrong, you’ve always got Amazon’s Customer Service who will immediately ship-out a replacement for you. Highly recommended!

5 Stars Just as expected
Works fine, just as expected. I would buy this again in a heart beat if I had a need for one. Not much else to say.
