The pocketable PowerShot S90 gives powerful everyday shooting. Shoot quickly with a lens control ring and get superior low-light performance with a high-sensitivity 10.0 MP CCD and f/2.0 lens. A high-sensitivity CCD sensor gives outstanding image quality in a wide variety of lighting conditions. Even images taken at high ISOs show exceptionally low noise levels and a wide dynamic range. A bright f/2.0 aperture allows exceptional versatility, capturing low-light images and fast-moving subjects at higher shutter speeds. A wide angle of 28mm lets you put more in the frame, while Canon’s optical IS reduces blur caused by camera shake.

5 Stars Great camera for the money
This is one of the greatest cameras I have owned. Picture quality is phenomenal. Very versatile. Like taking SLR pictures with a digital point and shoot. Some people have mentioned problems accidentally moving the ring when taking pictures but I have not had this problem. The only issue I have had is that the flash often pops up where I am holding the camera. Very small but powerful. Highly recommend.

1 Star Blurry Pictures…Ugh!
I bought this item just recently. I am a point and shoot photographer. I have owned several point and shoot Canons and have been quite happy with them. This one just didn’t behave like my other Canons. Half of my pictures were blurry and all seemed to be somewhat grainy. Total diappointment! I have sent it back to Amazon. I am not sure what to buy at this point, since I have always been a Canon fan, but this has shaken my trust in the product.

4 Stars First small form camera…
Quick impressions:

1. Working through the manual is not the quickest, so am using strictly on “auto” for now. Which means my shots are likely less than optimal at this point.

2. Not sure about “low light” as flash generally takes over and what you get is a flash picture. Not sure if flash can be overridden. But shot 85 pics indoors at a wedding reception and pics turned out okay, flash and all.

3. Regarding those same pics, they appear reasonably sharp when viewed on a 26″ high definition screen, though shot and stored as high res JPG’s.

4. Heavier than I expected, but I take that as a good thing. Otherwise, very portable. As part of intent was for my wife to easily carry in her purse, as we were missing too many picture opportunities with the grandkids. And she took most of the pics at the wedding reception.

5. Display screen is nice. No issues as such. 1st camera we’ve had without a viewfinder. So getting use to that.

6. The telephoto-wide angle lever is smaller than on my prior cameras, so I find myself fumbling just a bit to get a good finger tip hold to operate, but I would expect that to ease over time.

All in all, reasonably satisfied with my purchase.

5 Stars Love this camera
When it comes to photography, I am lame. Even though I am an artist, I could arguably be the worst photographer on the planet. My mom once complained that art school was a waste after seeing my shots. Seriously.

The main issue is a combination of clunky menus that work against you in the spur of the moment, the quality of the camera, or portability. You had to compromise on something. I hate lugging gear or fumbling with a lens cap but wanted something better than a simple point and shoot. Shooting photos was more frustrating than fun. It seemed like a chore.

The S90 is a really fun camera to use and takes amazing pictures. The lcd screen is large with good color which makes it easy to compose shots. The onscreen information is really useful since I’m always forgetting something. It fits in a pocket and is easy to customize (I Googled “S90 tips” to customize settings). The control ring feels intuitive and this is the first time I can adjust shots on the fly. The layout of the buttons make sense. I have never ever ever been this comfortable with a camera.

The other reviewers on Amazon were spot on about the experience. I am one of the small group of people who are fine with the ergonomics. I would agree with others that the flash takes getting used to and the couple of times it popped up, I was startled and dropped the camera but had the wrist strap on so no harm was done.

This is a camera that is fun to use and takes amazing indoor or outdoor shots with excellent color.

p.s. The non hd video is fine for my purposes since I am a worse videographer than a photographer. Besides, if you ever import stuff into a computer, the HD files are too large to process for what most people would ever need.

5 Stars Hard to find a better one
I just want to touch a couple of points, since they seem to be the most controversial:

-the back ring, the one all the people complain about: maybe it’s my way to hold the camera, but I never accidentally moved it, so it’s not a constant. There is a website that offers, for about 3 bucks, a sort of plastic ring that goes around it and it appears it removes the problem

-battery life: I really don’t find it limiting, I shoot more than 500 pictures with it, some of them with flash

excellent camera, it happens that I bring it even when I have the reflex with me, and for travelling in big cities it’s a blessing, pocket size and wonderful pictures, a lot of control!

1 Star Great Cam

Basically its a good camera. ordered on 12th Apr, but still didn’t recieve it (3-May).

Electronic-expo is the seller and they doesnt have the stock, they put it on back order.

People who looking for immediate order, don’t order here.

5 Stars Like a pro camera!
Lots of features and lightweight. If you like basic and pro features this is it. You can purchase additional accesories later on if you want to.

1 Star Poor Customer Service
Nikon D5000 12.3 MP DX Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens and 2.7-inch Vari-angle LCD

We bought this camera with high expectations and after the first day of using it (only really took about 40 pictures) we downloaded the pictures into our computer. The next day, I went to turn on the camera and it would not turn on. We tried everything and finally called Nikon. A quick over the phone analysis by the customer service rep was done and he simply said to mail it back to them. No apologies, little explanation and nothing set up to cover shipping charges. I called back to talk to a second rep and again was told that the shipping costs were on me!

I spent over $10.00 to ship it back and a week later they are “waiting for parts” to complete the repair. Keep in mind that this is a brand new camera that we spent a lot of money on. Maybe Nikon is not what it used to be.

5 Stars great Nikon!
we bought this camera off Amazon.com and we asolutely love it. This is our first DSLR camera, so we are not experts, but this camera make you feel like an expert. It’s so easy to use that we were taking professional quality photos in no time. It takes some getting use to if you are stepping up from a point-n-shoot camera due to the size, options, and lens. We started out with only using the Auto setting, but after reading the manual a few times we moved on to use some of the other fabulous settings, options, and even going into manuual mode to take the perfect picture. This camera is for the amateur and the pro. I would recommend this camere to anyone who could afford it.

5 Stars A Great Buy
I bought the Nikon D5000 SLR camera with the understanding that it was the best SLR on the market in the amateur professional category. While it lacks some of the features of the more expensive D90 it certainly is an upgrade from the D60 I had been previously using. It is a solid basic SLR camera with video technology and a reversible screen for those hard to picture shots that is easy to learn the basics of and yet complex enough to grow along with the user. I would highly recommend it for anyone interested in purchasing an SLR camera.

5 Stars Beautiful camera
This is a great camera for anyone. I bought it for my wife to carry with her for those special pictures that come up unexpectedly. There is no need to fool around with a bunch of settings. You just turn it on and it is ready. Takes great pictures indoors and outdoors. It does have all the “settings” if you like to tinker, but is just great on auto. I would reccommend this camera for anyone.

5 Stars Very good
This camera is what I was looking for: compact, good quality and has a fast refresh rate. I love the burst mode.

Picture quality is very good but not great…there is some sacrifice for size but compared to other compacts that are this small it is excellent.

My goal was to find a good quality camera that slips into a pocket and I could not be happier.

5 Stars Totally worth the buy!
Bought this as a birthday gift for my wife. She wanted something she could keep in her purse all the time; instead of being bummed she didn’t lug around her very high grade Digital SLR by Canon. It is perfect! Exactly what she wanted, small, easy to use, and great pics (no, not the same quality as the SLR, but close for everyday pics). Additionally, it has a good battery life and was selected after I read up on this type of camera on [...]. It is not the most attractive point and shoot camera, and you can only use the 2.7″ viewfinder, as opposed to an eyepiece finder, BUT don’t let that dissuade you! This camera can come at a decent price if you shop around and is completely worth the buy. We have had it for almost a month now and it has been great.

One other bit of advice, my wife learned the hard way, read the manual. It performs a lot of functions and if you are just messing around with settings, you will make a mistake and need to default back to factory settings.

3 Stars lens should be in the middle
the camera takes great pictures and the controls are easy to use. the only flaw is that the lens is up in the left hand corner instead of in the middle of the camera so i have taken a lot of pictures with my finger in the frame. the camera is very small so someone with big hands like myself might want to consider a camera that is a little bigger…i am always feeling like i am going to drop it when i try to get my fingers out of the way to snap a picture.

5 Stars Low stress photography & great fun
Have owned it just over a month. . . traveled with it. . . shot stills, video. . . micro, full zoom, aerial. . . flash, timer, many modes. . . Intelligent Auto or selected settings. . . this camera makes photography fun! It travels in a shirt or jacket pocket virtually unnoticed, or packages up in a soft carrying case with a spare battery, SD Card, and small cloth for cleaning the screen/lens that’s just 4 1/2″x3″x1 1/2″ for those short vacations. And with a spare battery, it easily gets through a 3 to 4 day vacation at 100+ pictures/day without recharging anything. Picture quality is far and away good enough for those of us looking to “record family history” on anything up to 8×10. If you have owned another camera with features, you’ll be able to find your way around the Menus and Modes without too much hassle. . . or just jump to Intelligent Auto which works well 90+% of the time. For me, it passes the most critical test . . . it’s small enough to take anywhere without a hassle, and takes very good pictures!
