User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Great at first site- not good with heavy telephoto lenses
When I first received the bag, I was very happy with it. I was able to customize the inside padding to fit exactly what I needed to put in there.

However, after loading all of my equipment (Canon 40D with battery grip, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, speedlite 580ex ii, 15mm fisheye, 24-70 f/2.8L) the sturdiness of the bag decreased immensely.

When I put it on my back the back of the bag sagged, causing the equipment to hit each other. the stitching in the zipper and skirt ripped after only a few uses.

****Would not recommend if using heavy lenses****

5 Stars Perfect for the price
I went shopping for a backpack style bag as I started to run out of room from a smaller camera bag I owned. I was looking for something not overpriced and nice looking. I first saw the bag at Best Buy for over $70 but when I searched online I was able to purchase brand new for $40 including shipping! The bag is perfect for me as it holds plenty of the accesories that I own. I recommend this bag for anyone looking to get started.

5 Stars Canon deluxe photo backpack 200eg
Organized well, lightweight and plenty of storage space. Must be layed flat to access your equipment or you will end up dumping it out. Padded very well and holds everything I need.

4 Stars Great bag for the price
Great bag for the prices. It’s not a high end bag, but it is made well an is exactly what I was looking for.

5 Stars Awesome
This product is well worth the money and there is more room than I need for both of my cameras and the accessories. The fact that you can adjust all the compartments with velcro is a very nice asset. I’d definately suggest it as I am very happy with it and the speed at which I received it.

5 Stars Needs Better Packaging
While I was satisfied with the product, the packaging left a lot to be desired. My NPT-04 came in a box with NO packing material, and it was quite knocked around and knocked OUT OF IT’S BLISTER PACKAGE. Fortunatly it was not damaged, but it could easily have been so, considering the CowboyStudio Strobist Swivel Flash Bracket Umbrella Holder was also knocking around in the same package. I know there is a need to economize with these ideal prices for these products, but at least some old newspaper packing would’ve sufficed.

The radio controller is pretty cool, however, and I recommend it to anyone who needs remote triggering withing limited distances. You may have complications outdoors at great distances if you don’t use fresh batteries (consider Nickel-Zinc batteries for the receiver), but indoors it totally rocks.

4 Stars High Quality for little Expense
Simply put, for the money invested you cannot buy a better set of triggers:

First, the range is better than expected; I tested them thoroughly from 1 to 100 yards without any misfires or interruptions.

Second, they fired accurately while inside a Wescott softbox, even when placed at an indirect angle such as behind a subject around a wall.

For me those two reasons alone would sway me to purchase them even if they were slightly more expensive. You may not get the same range as say Pocket Wizards, however for the aspiring amature photographer these are a great investment as you can use the money you saved buying these and put it towards other useful equipment like stands and more flashes ect…

The only thing that I find a little disconcerting is that the plastic on the hot shoe receiver is slightly raised which means that you do have to be careful when putting on and taking off flashes. I will be sure to update when I get a chance, but so far I have taken over 300+ photos with no problems.

5 Stars Works with Canon T2i.
I have to admit I wasn’t really impressed at first with the build quality and the packaging but what was I expecting for a cheap flash trigger and receiver. The great thing though is that they work just fine with my Canon T2i 550D and my 430ex II flash. I couldn’t see myself spending hundreds just yet on Pocket Wizard if I’m just learning the ropes of photography so I thought I’d give these a try and I was pleasantly surprised. If these work just as good or atleast close to being as good as the more expensive pair then I don’t see why you shouldn’t try them. There’s not instructions included but the company has online instructional videos you can check out. They’re very easy to use though. Bottom line, they’re inexpensive and they work fine.

4 Stars Works with an Opteka EF600 icon smile CowboyStudio NPT 04 4 Channel Wireless Hot Shoe Flash Trigger Receiver for Canon EOS Nikon Olympus and Pentax Flashes Other products by cowboystudio
Ok I was also like everyone else and had my hopes up getting these, but for the cost, why not? So I get them today, put some new batteries in, set my Opteka EF600 to manual and attempted to shoot with flash (with the flash a few feet away). I get nothing. So I start using different manual settings, and I still get nothing. I read that pretty much it’s a connect and go kind of thing, but I was clueless as to why it wasn’t working. Hitting the test button I could see that it was transmitting and receiving. I even tried looking up whether or not it worked with my flash but I couldn’t find anything online. So after some time… just as I was about to give up all hope after trying everything I could think of, I was handling my flash then pressed the test button, and it fired. I was like “what the h3ll…?” It fired with every test press, and then fired from my Canon 5D as well! I was relieved!!! So HERE WAS THE ISSUE! The transmitter fits very snugly on my shoe mount. The receiver however DOES NOT! It has the tiniest amount of play, perhaps a mm or less, but I can hear it clicking when one of the metal prongs ‘digs’ into the metal groove. So one way and NOTHING… move it the tiniest amount and VOILA’ it works! That is why I gave my review 4 stars. Plus I wanted someone else out there to know it works with the Opteka EF600!

As for initial testing, yes it worked on all the different MANUAL power settings. The furthest away so far it worked was 2 rooms. And something I haven’t read yet, it does work for consecutive rapid fire shots. I look forward to testing out the possibilities with my flash now that it has a purpose off my camera as well!

5 Stars about the battery
There has been alot of questions about the transmitter, and why it doesn’t seem to need a battery.

It does have an internal 23 Amp battery similar to alot of car/alarm remote batteries. You would have to access it through the small screw on the top of it, open the top, and you will see the battery.

The type is pretty standard, and you can order them here at Amazon, or I think they have them at Radio Shack also.

Since it is 23 “AMPS”, not “Milliamps”, it (inch for inch) has 1000 times the capacity of regular AA batteries. In other words, it will last a VERY long time. I know someone who has had one of these for 4 years and still no sign of low battery.

After that much time, (if I haven’t broken this thing – hey, I’m clumsy) I probably would have bought something else anyway.

So the last thing anyone should worry about is the battery life of the transmitter.

5 Stars Great flash
A must have for all pro photographers. Loads of power, decent battery life, excellent build quality. a little spendy, and i actually lucked out and got it $50 cheaper on sale on amazon. So keep your eyes open for a good deal.

4 Stars Welcome to a whole new world of options!
The Canon 580ex II. First up, if you’re still getting by with your on-board flash on your camera… good for you. However, I may seem like the bearer of bad news here but… you have no idea what you’re missing out on! I personally was using my camera’s on-board flash with the Gary Fong “Puffer” to soften the light up for quite some time before I decided to take on a wedding gig. That flash just wasn’t going to get me the “Oomph!” that I figured I would need to really reach out there with my flash (the on-boards are usually good for like… 6-15 feet and that’s it). I bought myself this flash and another diffuser and set to putting it through it’s paces a few months ago and here’s what I’ve got to say: Let’s keep it simple and tidy… so here goes!

What’s hot?

* WAY more reach than an on-board flash.

* Bounce flash option to get more “natural” looking light.

* Fill card and “wide angle” cover are very useful and built right into the head! Easy to use, then store.

* Very adjustable to your specific needs.

* Can be used as a “Master” unit to control “Slave” units that are placed off camera.

* Can be controlled by the Canon 7D’s built in master unit and act as a slave flash off camera.

* Sturdy build quality (even the accessory stand is made of metal).

* Rechargeable Energizer batteries last a lot longer than I was expecting in the unit, while maintaining good recycle rates.

What’s not?

* I’m afraid I’m going to break whatever the mechanism/pin is that locks the head in place (released via a button).

* All those adjustments take you a while to wrap your mind around. You can easily go from beginner to advanced lighting with this unit… a plus, but this means there’s a noticeable learning curve if you want to get it off “Auto” and your pictures to come out looking good.

* Bulky. (Though a battery grip on my 7D seems to help balance the weight out a little more for me)

* I haven’t been able to get the unit to work as a slave that also triggers my studio lights yet… but that’s probably more a “me” thing than a problem with the device.

All in all I’m pleased with it. It’s given me a new perspective and creative outlet for off-camera, on location flash that I simply can’t have in the studio when I’m anchored in place. I’ll suggest patience and taking time to learn all the ins and outs of the product if you take the plunge. Also… Wedding photography (even as just a “guest”) takes on a whole new level with creative and intelligent use of my Canon 580ex II. I highly recommend this product.

5 Stars Nice Speedlight
Exactly as expected, Canon Speedlight. Works as expected, i.e., very well.

Bought from Amazon because of excellent low price.

5 Stars Great flash unit
I can’t compare this Speedlite to other models because it is my first one. I am so impressed with what it does as compared to the built in flash. Right now I am using it in the auto mode. I have seen a brighter difference in my night time shots. I have taken around 500 pictures using the flash and the batteries still seem to be strong. It has a very quick recycle time. I don’t have to wait to take the next shot. This is a great investment. I look forward to learning all the ways of using the flash. I would recommend this Speedlite to anyone.

4 Stars Fantastic Product
This flash is fantastic I used a 430E Speedlite before but this produce superseeds it by farit

It is a little technical for an old guy but it performs like a jewel!!
