    4 Stars Too many batteries
This camera is a great photographic equipment, however if you don’t buy rechargable batteries you will become a polluter,it uses too many batteries and useful life of regular batteries is short, therefore you will have to keep buying more batteries everytime…this is not a environmentally friendly camera. I should have been more careful at the moment of selecting this camera.

    5 Stars Nice Camera
I’m not a prefessional photographer. I’m happy to have this camera. Really nice one icon smile Nikon Coolpix L110 12 MP Digital Camera with 15x Optical Vibration Reduction VR Zoom and 3 0 Inch LCD Black

    5 Stars well satisfied
I was looking for a camera that would produce clear detailed closeups and one that would zoom in for a distant picture also. I found both with this camera. I am well satisfied that the camera did as advertised and I have enjoyed taking closeups of my flower garden.

5 Stars So far so GREAT!
My husband recently bought the Nikon CoolPix L110 for me from Amazon and I absolutely LOVE it! I have always had Nikons–over 25 years worth from a manual to an SLR to digital to this one!–and once again I can take pictures straight out of the box. It feels good in your hand, the controls are so easy and the photos are crystal clear. I have only had it for short while, so I have not tried out the video but I didn’t buy the camera for video capabilities so I may not ever use it! I have yet to read the book but I will so I can take some creative shots.

I broke the LCD screen on my Nikon CoolPix L15 (don’t ever put them in your purse without a case!) so I initially thought I’d get another one like it until I saw the L110. The 15x zoom is absolutely wonderful, esp for taking wildlife shots, which is what I was lacking with the L15′s 3x zoom.

I wanted a Nikon L-series camera because it uses regular AA batteries (comes with 4 Energizer Lithiums!) which you can find anywhere, esp on vacation.

The camera strap and lens cap strap that come with it are great–the lens cap strap is threaded with the camera strap so you cannot lose it, which is very nice, yet it is out of the way.

I’ve taken quite a few macro shots both on the “upclose” setting and on the standard “portrait” setting and both work beautifully.

The absolute ONLY thing I’d change on the camera is to color in that glowing orange dot for the record button–it makes you think the camera is “on”.

So far I haven’t had any blurry pictures issues like some of the reviews here….

4 Stars Great Camera for an “Average” User
I am not an SLR guy. But this Camera is great for the “Above Average” Users. This is far better than a point and shoot camera. The 15X zoom works great and 12.1 MP captures very minute details even at highest zoom. I have tried taking the pictures in all types of lights and it works well. I am very happy with this camera. An easy to use camera with 15X zoom, 12.1 MP resolution and less than $250… What else can I ask ???

However at full zoom, I have to take the pictures very carefully. Even a little bit of shake of hands at full zoom spoils the pictures.

Also the picture turns a little grainy at full zoom. Not so bad though.

However I must admit that the “Automatic Mode” captures the best pictures in all lights and all modes. I hardly need to use the manual settings. “Automatic Mode” does it for me most of the time.

5 Stars Amazing power in a compact camera!
Unbelievable camera!Shot HD video of my brother’ graduation and I was sitting across the arena! 10x optical zoom plus a 14.2 megapixel camera in a SLEEK design…

WOW!!

Buy it!

1 Star maybe i got a lemon
I am a pro photographer and I bought this as a present for my wife . I usually shoot with nikon dslr’s and the result is great. I bought this and returned it after 1 day. I don’t think that it’s a bad camera inherently. I can only assume that the one i got from amazon was refurbished or something because no matter what I did the picture just wasn’t clear and at 14 megapixels it should be great. I won’t buy cameras from amazon again. I even tested this camera in a few diff stores and the result seemed ok. that’s the problem with buying cameras online and not from a pro camera house. sorry amazon. not cool.

3 Stars Hard to hold
I just watched Nikon’s video on the S8000 and they show the model holding the camera with both index fingers on the top of the camera. Nice … but there is a pop-up flash on the left top, which would prevent this in any low light situation. It is not very user friendly … you have to stop and move your index finger and then pull the flash up manually after it hits your finger and fails to open fully. When your through shooting you have to manually close the flash.

There is no indicator to tell you how much charge is left in the battery.

The sound when watching videos on the camera is barely audible even with volume control attached to zoom. When you connect the camera to your computer the sound is normal … no problem.

The S8000 has a very fast start-up and the zoom is excellent. The colors are beautiful and accurate. Fast and accurate focusing means I get what I shoot but the flash pop-up can slow you down. I don’t think I can live with the flash pop-up. I don’t buy a new camera, that often.

2 Stars Terrible picture quality
I bought the Nikon S8000 thinking that Nikon always delivers good picture quality. I am an avid amateur photographer, and own several Nikon DSLRs which I think are outstanding. Unfortunately, with the S8000 my trust was misplaced. While the camera is sleek with excellent shooting performance, the quality of the images was simply terrible. Even in good outdoor lighting at ISO 100 there is smudging and loss of detail when zooming in to 100%. All the pictures look as if they’re slightly out of focus, and this did not change despite adjusting autofocus settings, anti-vibration settings ets. The quality of indoor shots was even worse. I used this camera for 2 months, and tried every possible setting to fix the image quality. Video quality is excellent, but there is a nagging high pitch sound in all of the footage. If you care about image quality do not buy this camera. I’m selling mine at a loss.

5 Stars Quality point-and-shoot camera
I purchased this camera just prior to a business/sightseeing trip, and am extremely pleased.

10x optical zoom on a camera in this price range is excellent, and the zoom performs quite well. The picture quality is very good on the highest-quality setting (14MP+, which Nikon denotes as “print quality”) – the images produced at this setting are around 6MB apiece.

The camera has a special flash mode for nighttime pictures and it does make a huge difference. Pictures taken at night or in a dark location using this mode are much less washed-out and grainy than I am used to. Also included are the fairly standard steadiness correction and red-eye reduction.

All in all I am impressed with the camera, especially given the price. It is fairly easy to learn to use, especially if you are like me and only want a point and shoot camera, but does have many options to tweak if you wish.

The only downside is that the buttons to switch between modes (picture, video, display) aren’t always immediately responsive, and since you enter and exit video mode with a button on the back of the camera the last second of video is shaky unless you have a very steady hand.

3 Stars So So
I like the idea of it, but a prime lens is far too limiting this day in age, especially when there’s plenty of zoom lenses that have almost as good quality and satisfy 90% of the needs.

This is a good lens for a very specific purpose – wanting a lot of isolation between the subject and the background/foreground.

I don’t recommend getting it for low light shooting because the thing doesn’t have VR – unless you have a tripod. Its low light performance wasn’t as good as I expected.

Mine might be defective but it always seems to focus a few inches away from where I centered on. I don’t know why, and i don’t care because i’m returning it.

Pros

Great image colors and sharpness

Great isolation

Cons

no Vibration Reduction

wide open aperture washes out some colors

5 Stars Great little prime lens!
After getting back into (D)SLR photography and buying a D70 from a friend, I wanted to get a prime lens that I could use in low light situations w/o flash. This neat little 1.8 35mm does the trick; it’s fast, sharp and crisp, with brilliant color rendition, quick AF, and no real problems I can see! Even the price is reasonable for a prime lens, IMO.

I also like that it’s small (compared to my 18-55mm kit lens), which makes it easy to carry both on and off the camera whenever I want to do ‘natural-light’ shooting. And being it’s a DX lens the x1.5 ratio when mounted on a Nikon DX DSLR gives you the same approximate field of view of a 50mm film (or full frame) lens, which has been the standard true-eye size focal length for 35mm film cameras for decades! It’s a great lens for for candids and scenery, and because it’s so sharp it can also do excellent portrait work, providing you get close enough (no zoom, remember?) to your subject..!

-Nice work Nikon, and please make some more reasonable Nikkor primes like this for those of us who cannot afford the huge prices on most of your other DX AF prime lenses. An f4 105 or 200mm prime for around $200 would be a lot easier to swallow than those over-$1K prices (which I can’t afford!) for all of the existing Nikkor 2.8 primes, IMO!

5 Stars Great Lens
The lens has been great. The quality of my pictures increased drastically with the 35mm lens. It works well and is easy to use with auto focus. Learning to use it with manual settings takes a little time, but worth every minute.

5 Stars Fast lens for fun around the house.
This light weight 35mm (52mm equiv) fast f/1.8 little prime lens is a kick in the pants lens for low light candid shots around our house. It’s overall brilliant performance in natural lighting conditions makes it unique enough on it’s own merrit for everyone to consider. The price is right at Amazon for a lot of value, and I can’t think of a negative comment to make about this handy little opticalgem.

5 Stars No brainer for dx cameras
I’ve had this lens for almost a month now for my D40 and haven’t used the kit lens since then. For under $200, every Nikon DX camera user should have one. I noticed immediately sharper pictures and much quicker AF compared to the kit lens. I may never use the kit lens again. Better build quality too. Rarely do I need to use flash which is the main reason I purchased this lens.

Versatile and compact 3.6 Zoom-Nikkor brings the action to the photographer. Ideal for portraiture, family, sports, nature and wildlife. Approximates the picture angle characteristic of an 82-300mm lens in the 35mm format. Nikon’s VR (Vibration Reduction) reduces the effects of camera shake, allowing hand-held shooting at up to 3 shutter speeds slower than would otherwise be possible for dramatically sharper images. An ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass element minimizes chromatic aberration, contributing to superior optical performance. New compact rod-type Silent Wave Motor (SW) enables ultra-high speed autofocusing with exceptional accuracy and super-quiet operation. Enables quick switching between A (Autofocus) and M (Manual Focus).

4 Stars Nikon 55-200mm Lens
I can’t compare it to another lens because this was my first zoom lens purchase. However, this was a great purchase! The auto-focus function works well with my D40. I’m still learning the in’s and out’s of a DSLR camera so I don’t use the manual focus frequently, but I have used it and it still produced crisp, clear pictures. I would definitely recommend this lens to others.

5 Stars Couldn’t ask for a better lens–I love it!!!

I purchased this lens from another store and I’m loving it. I got this for my Nikon d3000! I would say get this lens for all around picture taking. It’s a bit heavy, but other than that it’s wonderful!!

5 Stars Plesantly surprised
I have never purchased a refurbished product prior to this purchase of the 55-200mm Nikon lense. I am more that happy with the product. It is quick to focus, even in low light. On a recent trip to Florida to do some bird photography I shot over 1000 images with this lense on my D80 with amazing results. There were alot of big guns there, 400mm, 600mm and my images compared favorably to any shot with the expensive glass.I highly recomend this lense to anyone, from a biginer to a pro.

4 Stars Great lens! VR is a MUST!
I previously used the non-VR version, and I can say now that I’ll never own another lens without VR. Photos are much more crisp at higher zoom levels since the VR takes out the exaggerated shake. It’s a great alternative to the 70-300mm. It gives you all the zoom you need without taking up your whole camera bag. It’s also an easy lens to carry around on your camera, as opposed the the long and heavy 70-300mm. You won’t find a better bang for your buck.

5 Stars Nice Zoom Lens, Decent Price
I bought this zoom lens as an additional lens for my wife’s Nikon D40 camera. The thought was that it would enable her to get some better closeup shots depending on the situation. While it is true that the lens is great for that, functionally it’s not as versatile as her stock lens due to the fact that you don’t have the ability to not zoom in on something. The interesting thing is that the camera has high enough picture quality that you can take almost any image taken with the stock lens and zoom in on it digitally, but I digress.

This last weekend we took an outing to the National Zoo in Washington DC and my wife put this lens on her camera. For the task of taking pictures of the various animals in their enclosures, this thing was great. We wound up with some images of animals that look like they were professionally done and that would not be out of place in a wildlife book.

The lens is easy to install, easy to use, and gives very good picture quality thanks to the vibration reduction feature, all for a reasonable price. For an amateur photographer or someone who just likes to take a lot of snapshots, what’s not to like?
